I went cycling and saw some boats...

I jumped on my bike and Bro Joe on his and we poodled up to Shoreham ( I say poodle, what I mean is die in head on winds along the coast with my single speed bike) and we looked at some mother frickin boats y'all! they where sweet. Here's some photosnaps of what I found, bit of a surprise half way...

Crack Boat!!!
Why does it have no windows?
growing weed? hiding immigrants?
I'm gonna go with government surveillance spies eating pies.

Concrete boat how do you float.

Boat chicken.

Yeah man. Battle house ship.

Piano chime was dope.

AND THEN WE FOUND THEM.

Crazy ass art boats!
made from everything and anything.

The tear drop windows are just ridiculous, You cant really see from the photo but there's basically a conservatory behind there. Its made with a bus too, you know what ever's lying around. Heart windows and a washing machine too.

Its got a bath tub window and a car wall! whaaat!
Ah I think I need a lie down.

Tie up and die...

Alright alright put the noose down, don't blame the hippies . Yeah the conventional Tie Dye t-shirt can be pretty tacky. Its one of those things you learn to do at primary school which is a bit more fun than learning timestables BUT inky splotchy tie dye splashing and twisting with loads of colour can look kinda alreet.

When asking a family member (Joe) what Items he would most like to own with a tie dye pattern our survey said....Condoms, clouds & contact lenses. Not condoning any of these suggestions, as I believe they would all truly benefit from a splash of colour madness, unfortunately they just don't exist. So ignoring those I've looked at where the pattern has exploded across art, fashion and technology.

These are some of my favourites. If I had monies I would buy everything, and wear them all at the same time. Take that peace on earth I'm getting colour right up in your grill.

*I can't quite remember where I found all these but will have a hunt and link it all up asap.

Real life imgaginationings...

Kids doodles and drawings represent the naive mind of pure untouched dreams ideas and make belief. Dragons with gills, men with 6 arms and sheep with faces buried in the fleece.

A brilliant company called Childrens Own started with the basic idea of turning the unique scribbles of a child into a recognisable soft toys, recreating them as accurately as possible. The result being a personal toy for the child that they can call completely their own.

These toys are frickin cool! get me a caped bird with boots and a flower crown!

Beatle, Whale, Frog...

I got Paid. I went shopping. For necessities obviously.

Since living in Brighton I have become the embodiment of that travis song. When ever I walk, it rains. So I've been a hankering for a proper gummy, old school, fishing mac, one that will survive Brighton. I found one. It has whales in it.

I like Insects.

Its a phone. In the shape of a frog. IN THE SHAPE OF A FROG.

Key Ring £ some monies I can't remember
Mac £14 Beyond Retro
Frog phone £3 Snoopers Paradise

Soren Berger you sexy wood weilding turner! ...

Absolutely bleedin geeeorgous! These lamp shades! stunningly carved so thin they permit the lowest glow to pass through the grain, lighting up the patterns of growth. Turned from one large piece of log the process and product are just scrumptious. Check out the video at the bottom.

Music by Waldeck who are bloody mint too.

Don't you know Dunkno Yoon?...

Duk-no Yoon is this crazy cool metalsmith jewelery kinetic miniature sculpting artist! He creates elegantly fragile moving pieces which are intricately balanced and perfectly poised.

Making several different metal based objects from costume helmets to rings made with cogs by far the best are these equisite flying contraptions.

Tuendsday Market Day...

I know I know my continuity on getting posts up on time is shocking. However I did go to the market yesterday and as always I think I picked up some things that I like but will probably never use and they will clutter up my home and life untill enevitably I turn into one of those grotesque horders with an intricate tunneling system running through my once beloved home. Walls now lost to piles of precariousley balanced tat which I will love to the very end although everything will be chipped and broken, mere shells and fragments to a reminder of a past life...

Woah nelly.

Untill then. I can still see my bedroom floor which I'm using as a unit of measurement to know at point of complete coverage I'll try to stop.

Onwards. Positively!  Tea and a read! A tiny tea in these preciously tiny blue chine tea cups maybe better for an espresso. I want to grow snow drops in them.

More fabric, more cushions?

And a collection of books. Their covers are beautiful, the faded colours of the masterpieces but especially fond of the old penguin classics, defiantly chosen for their titles, trying to figure out how I could make some kind of print or put them up on the wall??? I'll have a think and get back to you. Also the blank sketchbook with catch, defiantly inspiring me to draw in it when I do I'll post the pages up.

Tea Cups - £3 for 4
Penguins - I can't remember £3 for 2??
Sketch book and 7 Artist books - £5
Fabric 4 pieces - £2

30 min cushwan cover ...

Righteo! the market was a bit rubbish this week so as promised I've whipped up a cushion cover with the psychedelic material I bought last Tuesday. I'd never done one before so if I can do it for sure you can too. It's by no means perfect but definitely does the job.

I think the easiest way to describe this is an envelope shape, pillow case with flap and button fastening. Grab you're tools, fabric, sewing machine (definitely achievable by hand just will take longer) needle and thread, button(s), scissors.

Step one GO! with your chosen fabric run a stitch along any frayed edges just sew (so, Ha!) the fabric doesn't unravel. Hem the material by folding it over onto its self and stitching.

Next place the material pattern side up and fold down the top section onto itself (You can make this section as big or small as you like, I'll be roughly folding mine into thirds) This piece of material will be your flap, measure each end so its the same length and will sew straight.

Following this, take the bottom of the material and fold completely over itself until what was the bottom touches the top part of the flappy bit.

This is when you get your folded tube envelope pancake. All you need to do now is sew straight down either end of the tube. All through in some places three layers of material.

*sew sew sew* AND *Turn inside out*
TA DA!

This is a really basic sack making shape, I debated whether at this stage to turn it into a bag but I lacked necessary strap making pieces. You can stop here if you want but I recon adding a wee button to keep the flappy bit to secure, finishes it off a treat.

So choose your button and hand sew to the material underneath the fold in your chosen location. Then snip a smaller than your button size cut above the button on the outer fold, quickly stitch round the cut to stop fraying, and your button is donski!

Stuff your cushion in and there we go! new cushion cover for less than a quid and no more than 1/2 hour of your day. ENJOY!

BRGHTN PT 3 Broseph Melk...

Lastly in Brighton my older brother is the one who puts me up and puts up with me whilst I'm there. He has his own bloggings at DrinkMoreTea and is quite a whizz with the picture box taking photo's of travelings and places on his wheelie board. I know very little of skateboarding so I won't comment but I do know a niiice photo when I see one.
